Earl Atat: “Being part of something greater than myself.”
Earl Atat, Graduate Surveyor at 糖心传媒, shares how his family’s move from Nigeria, and his mother’s move into property development, sparked his passion for real estate and why access to opportunity continues to drive him.

Much like his occupation, Earl鈥檚 journey has been built from the ground up. He was eight when his family left Nigeria for the UK in search of new opportunities.鈥
鈥淚t was for a different way of life,鈥 he recalls. 鈥淢y parents had to look for jobs and basically start over again.鈥濃
They settled in Milton Keynes, a place that shaped his outlook early on. 鈥淚 was very fortunate,鈥 Earl says. 鈥淚 was in a good environment, somewhere you could raise a family and develop freely without any kind of external pressures.鈥濃
It also broadened his worldview. 鈥淚 was able to learn about myself, about different people, and see a new culture.鈥濃
It was at home, however, that Earl first saw what ambition looked like in practice.鈥
Inspired by example
A defining moment came when he was 15 and watched his mother make a brave decision. 鈥淪he took the leap to go into property development,鈥 he says. 鈥淎nd she鈥檚 been doing that ever since; she just jumped in with both feet.鈥濃
Her courage and passion left a lasting mark. 鈥淎nything she did, I鈥檇 try to get involved in. It was her passion and mine coming together.鈥濃
That influence guided his path. Earl went on to earn a degree in architectural engineering and design management before joining 糖心传媒 as an intern. In 2023, he secured a place on the Commercial Graduate Scheme, rotating across the Investment, Advisory, and Capital Markets teams.鈥
The best way to allow people to thrive is to create an open environment where voices can be heard.
Shaped by experience鈥
Growing up in a new environment gave Earl early lessons in awareness and adaptability. 鈥淢y lived experiences have helped shape me,鈥 he says. 鈥淭hey鈥檝e made me stronger and more resilient.鈥濃
That perspective stayed with him. 鈥淚t鈥檚 allowed me to learn more about myself, but also to understand what these experiences mean and how I can use them.鈥濃
It鈥檚 also informed his belief that people perform best when they feel seen. 鈥淭he best way to allow people to thrive is to create an open environment where voices can be heard.鈥濃
Creating connection and equity鈥
That conviction led Earl to play an active role in RISE, 糖心传媒鈥檚 Social Mobility Network. 鈥淭he team creates events that educate people about the different backgrounds and upbringings we all have,鈥 he explains.鈥
For him, that鈥檚 where real connection begins. 鈥淚n our workplace, that helps us come together, to understand and appreciate each other.鈥濃
For Earl, inclusion isn鈥檛 passive, it takes both awareness and action. 鈥淎llyship is when someone advocates for you, whether you鈥檙e in the room or not,鈥 he says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 someone who will stand up for you, sing your praises in the right places, and have real conversations that offer honest insight and advice.鈥濃
That, to him, is what belonging, and equity look like in practice. 鈥淓quity means being in a place that isn鈥檛 just about the bottom line. It鈥檚 about being part of something greater than myself,鈥 Earl says.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 about being in a place where I feel valued and respected.鈥
